Photo of Worker Taking Four Seats Draws Both Sympathy and Criticism
In Singapore, a photo of a migrant worker occupying four seats while lying down in an MRT train has prompted a mix of reactions online. Shared by Nguyễn Văn Tín in the Complaint Singapore Facebook group, the image showed the worker asleep, seemingly exhausted from a physically demanding job and long commute.
While some criticized the act as a breach of public transport etiquette, many Singaporeans expressed understanding and compassion. They noted that workers often endure grueling conditions, suggesting that allowing rest during uncrowded commutes is more humane.
Comments included sentiments like, “He is tired after a long day’s work. Don’t disturb him,” and, “He’s working hard to support his family.” However, some criticized Mr. Tín for posting the photo without consent, calling it a breach of privacy and ethics.
The incident has reignited discussions about balancing compassion for overworked individuals and maintaining decorum in public spaces, alongside concerns over online privacy.
