The selection process was marked by intense scrutiny and some drama, with jurors being excused for reasons ranging from concerns about impartiality to comparisons of Trump with other political figures, such as former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. A potential juror was also dismissed after expressing fears about media pressure and intimidation.

Among the issues raised during the jury selection, Judge Merchan directed the press not to describe jurors physically, specifically objecting to one juror being described as having an Irish accent.
