Punggol Diner Receives Plain Bee Hoon After Ordering Fish Soup, Gets Refund After Dispute
A customer in Singapore was left stunned after discovering that his $6.50 Fish Soup Bee Hoon order, purchased from Oasis Terrace in Punggol, contained no fish at all. Instead, the bowl of soup only featured thick noodles, broth, and vegetables, leaving the diner frustrated and confused.
The incident, which occurred on April 1, 2024, was shared by the customer, Tiger Heng, on the COMPLAINT SINGAPORE Facebook page. According to Heng, he had ordered the Sliced Fish Soup from Gourmet Paradise, a stall in the food court, for his young daughter. Upon arriving home, he realized that the soup contained only noodles and no fish slices, as expected. Heng posted a video showing the disappointing meal, with no fish visible in the bowl.
“Paid $6.50 for plain bee hoon?” Heng wrote in his post, expressing his disbelief. He included a screenshot from the Koufu app, where he had placed the order, confirming that it was for fish soup.
When Heng returned to the food court to address the issue, he said the staff initially tried to argue that he might have accidentally ordered minced meat, despite there being no minced meat in the soup. However, Heng was able to provide proof of his original order from the Koufu app, and after some back-and-forth, he was refunded for the mistaken meal.
Heng admitted that he could have been more vigilant in checking the order before leaving the stall but explained that the takeaway container had been sealed by the staff, making it impossible for him to inspect the soup beforehand.
This incident follows a similar case where another customer was disappointed to find that her $5.80 chicken drumstick rice order was missing the drumstick. Both incidents have sparked conversations online about the quality and accuracy of food orders in Singapore.
The Independent Singapore has reached out to Heng and Koufu Group Limited for further comments on the matter.
