Lion City Sailors Bolster Roster with Song Uiyong and Bart Ramselaar Ahead of New Season

The Singapore Premier League champions strengthen their squad with key returning players and new signings for the 2024-25 campaign.

Lion City Sailors, the champions of the 2021 Singapore Premier League, are gearing up for the 2024-25 season by reinforcing their squad with exciting new talent. The club has confirmed the return of Singapore international Song Uiyong, along with the signing of Dutch midfielder Bart Ramselaar.

Song, who has previously played for Home United (the Sailors’ predecessor) and has gained valuable experience in Thailand and Indonesia, will return to Bishan Stadium for his second spell with the Sailors. The midfielder has agreed to a two-year contract, reuniting with the club after successful stints at Nongbua Pitchaya and Persebaya Surabaya. During his time with the Sailors, Song scored 32 goals in 58 appearances and will be looking to add further contributions to the team’s success.

Alongside Song’s return, the Sailors have secured Bart Ramselaar, who joins from FC Utrecht in the Dutch Eredivisie. Ramselaar’s signing will bolster the club’s midfield, adding depth and international experience to their ranks.

Additionally, Croatian defender Toni Datkovic has already signed with the Sailors, further strengthening the defense. These signings reflect the club’s determination to compete for the Singapore Premier League title and perform well in the newly-established AFC Champions League 2 (ACL2).

With these strategic additions, the Sailors are focused on mounting a strong challenge both domestically and in international competitions as they prepare for a promising season ahead.
