Temasek Warns of Scam in China Using Its Name to Solicit Money

Scammers impersonating Temasek’s Shenzhen office to deceive individuals into paying money.

Temasek Holdings, Singapore’s global investment company, issued an urgent warning on Wednesday (Nov 22) regarding a scam operating in China, where fraudsters are impersonating the company. The scammers are using the name “Temasek Holdings Advisors (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.” to trick people into thinking they are dealing with a legitimate Temasek office in Shenzhen.

Temasek, which has offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, clarified that the individuals behind the scam are falsely claiming to represent the company. Their tactic involves convincing people to invest money, promising future commissions in return. Temasek has stressed that it does not sell any investment products or financial instruments directly in China and has never authorized any third party to do so on its behalf.

The company advised anyone who believes they have been contacted by these scammers to immediately report the matter to local authorities. Furthermore, Temasek cautioned against sending money to anyone claiming to represent the firm unless their identity and authorization are thoroughly verified. Temasek stated that it does not accept responsibility for any unauthorized transactions conducted under its name.
