Fourth Boy in Critical Condition After Lake Accident in Babbs Mill Park

Three boys, aged eight, 10, and 11, have tragically died after falling through thin ice at Babbs Mill Park near Solihull, while a fourth boy, aged six, remains in critical condition in hospital.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, when emergency responders were alerted to the boys’ plight after reports of six people on the ice. Rescue operations, involving public volunteers, police officers, and firefighters, were immediately launched. Some responders entered the freezing water up to their waists to attempt rescues. Despite efforts, the boys were found in cardiac arrest and rushed to nearby hospitals.

The community and affected families are deeply mourning the loss, especially with the tragedy occurring so close to Christmas. Authorities are continuing to search the lake to ensure no one else is missing and have urged parents to remind children about the dangers of playing on ice.
