Drone Strikes in Ukraine Add Pressure Amid Diplomatic Scrutiny

The UK has joined France in asserting that Iran’s provision of armed drones to Russia, reportedly used to target civilians in Ukraine, violates the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA). This UN-backed nuclear deal prohibits Iran from transferring such weaponry.

Drone attacks continued to devastate Ukraine, with three civilians killed in Kyiv on Monday, according to the city’s mayor. The strikes intensify concerns about Tehran’s involvement in the conflict.

Simultaneously, EU foreign affairs ministers imposed sanctions on Iran’s morality police, citing human rights abuses, including their response to widespread protests and their treatment of women.

Although no immediate plans exist to escalate the drone issue to the UN Security Council, diplomatic sources indicate ongoing deliberations.
