Italian Right-Wing Coalition Concludes Campaign Ahead of Predicted Election Triumph

Giorgia Meloni and allies draw crowds in Rome as they prepare for a likely landslide victory in Sunday’s polls

Italy’s right-wing coalition, poised for a significant win in Sunday’s general election, concluded its campaign with a rally in a packed square in central Rome. The event attracted a diverse crowd, including long-time supporters, young voters, anti-abortion activists, and even a descendant of Benito Mussolini.

Led by Giorgia Meloni’s Brothers of Italy, a party with neofascist roots, the coalition includes Matteo Salvini’s League and Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italia. Their unified and energetic campaign has contrasted sharply with the fragmented effort of their main competitor, the centre-left Democratic Party. The latter’s lackluster performance has unexpectedly bolstered the populist Five Star Movement (M5S) in southern regions of the country.

As the polls approach, the coalition’s strong and consistent message has resonated with voters, setting the stage for a potential seismic shift in Italian politics.
