A 32-year-old Mexican woman tragically died while attempting to climb the US border wall near Douglas, Arizona. According to authorities, her leg became ensnared in a climbing harness, leaving her hanging upside down for a prolonged period. Border patrol and Cochise County sheriff’s officials are investigating the incident. The woman’s foot and leg were trapped as she tried to descend the wall on the US side.
After authorities responded to the emergency call on Monday night, the woman was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The Cochise County sheriff’s office indicated that an autopsy would be conducted, and they are in contact with the Mexican consulate, which is assisting in returning the woman’s remains to her family. Her family has requested that no personal information be disclosed about her at this time.
