Fox News Contributors Resign Over Tucker Carlson’s Capitol Attack Documentary

Steve Hayes and Jonah Goldberg quit in protest over “Patriot Purge,” which they say spreads conspiracy theories about the January 6 Capitol attack.

Two prominent Fox News contributors, Steve Hayes and Jonah Goldberg, have announced their resignation from the network in response to Tucker Carlson’s controversial documentary, Patriot Purge, which explores the deadly Capitol attack. In a public letter, they expressed concern that the voices of responsible conservatives were being overshadowed by irresponsible rhetoric, particularly highlighting the three-part series which they described as perpetuating conspiracy theories about the January 6th events.

The Patriot Purge series, which aired on the Fox Nation streaming platform and was heavily promoted on Fox News, revisits the Capitol insurrection in which Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in a failed attempt to overturn his election loss. Hayes and Goldberg criticized the documentary for spreading misinformation, as it suggested false narratives surrounding the attack and the individuals involved.

In their open letter, the two commentators reiterated that Fox News still produces credible reporting, but emphasized that the network’s broader editorial direction was becoming increasingly driven by irresponsible voices.
