Escalating Conflict and Attacks Lead to Protests and Casualties
Israel commemorated the first anniversary of the 7 October Hamas attacks with memorials and ceremonies across the country on Monday. However, as the anniversary unfolded, the war it triggered continued to rage, with Israel’s military bombing targets in Beirut and Gaza. Hezbollah rockets struck Haifa, causing damage and injuring at least five people. The Israeli airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs marked one of the most intense bombardments since Israel intensified its campaign against Hezbollah. Fighter jets targeted Hezbollah’s intelligence and weapons storage facilities in Lebanon, while the IDF reported a soldier’s death along the northern border. Protests also occurred, reflecting widespread discontent as the conflict threatens to escalate further in the Middle East.
