Tsai to Deliver Key Speech at Halifax International Security Forum
Former Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen is preparing for a visit to Canada next week, according to diplomatic sources. The visit is highly anticipated due to Tsai’s prominent role in representing Taiwan’s resistance to China’s growing military threats. While Canada does not have formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan, the two regions have strengthened economic and political ties, especially as China escalates its pressure on the democratic island.
Tsai, who concluded her presidency in May, is expected to visit Nova Scotia and deliver a speech at the Halifax International Security Forum, set to begin on November 22. Tsai’s office has not confirmed the details, stating that any announcements regarding her travel will be made at an appropriate time.
