Establishment of the NRA Marks Key Step Toward the Liberty Corridor Project
HPX has expressed its congratulations to Liberian President Joseph N. Boakai Sr. for the establishment of the Liberian National Railway Authority (NRA) through Executive Order No. 136, issued on October 10, 2024. The NRA will be responsible for overseeing and managing the nation’s rail assets, ensuring the system is run with efficiency, transparency, and fairness for all stakeholders involved.
Executive Order No. 136 lays the groundwork for the transformative Liberty Corridor Project by providing a clear legal and operational framework. HPX’s senior management is currently in Monrovia working closely with the government to finalize rail access agreements for the existing Yekepa-Buchanan line. Once these agreements are signed, HPX will begin Phase 1 operations, transporting iron ore from Kon Kweni through Liberia.
HPX is also set to initiate detailed engineering work for the Liberty Corridor once the rail access agreements are finalized, underlining its commitment to advancing the project and supporting Liberia’s infrastructure development.
