Ferrari Driver Secures Victory While Verstappen Faces 20-Second Penalty
Carlos Sainz claimed victory at the 2024 Mexican Grand Prix on October 27, as Max Verstappen, despite leading for much of the race, was handed a 20-second penalty. Sainz’s triumph marked Ferrari’s second win in just one week, with Lando Norris finishing second to tighten the championship standings.
Verstappen’s race was marred by penalties after a series of clashes, including one with Norris, which led to a 10-second penalty, followed by another 10-second penalty later in the race. These penalties saw him drop to 15th position, well outside of the points.
Lewis Hamilton finished in fourth place after overtaking his teammate, George Russell. Charles Leclerc had a challenging race, steering off course at one point, but still managed to hold on to finish in third.
Sainz’s performance helped Ferrari celebrate a successful week, while Norris’s second-place finish allowed him to gain ground in the overall standings.
