Top Seed Alcaraz Overcomes Evans in Four Sets to Secure Spot in Round 4
Carlos Alcaraz continued his impressive form at the US Open 2023, defeating Dan Evans 6-2, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to reach the fourth round. Despite a late fightback from the 26th-seeded Evans, who claimed the third set, Alcaraz regained control in the final set, sealing the victory after 3 hours and 11 minutes on court.
Alcaraz’s victory marks his seventh fourth-round appearance in just 11 Grand Slam tournaments, showcasing his growing consistency at the top level. Earlier in the day, Cameron Norrie was eliminated by Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi, who triumphed 6-3, 6-4, 6-3. In another notable match, Jack Draper overcame Michael Mmoh 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to also progress to the fourth round.
With his win, Alcaraz remains firmly in contention for the title as he continues his pursuit of a second US Open crown.
