Tragedy Highlights Growing Frustration With Strict Health Measures
The death of a four-month-old baby in Zhengzhou, China, has ignited public fury on social media amid growing discontent over the country’s “dynamic zero Covid” policy. The infant, who suffered from vomiting and diarrhoea, was denied medical treatment after testing negative for Covid-19, with health officials deeming the case non-urgent.
The baby’s father, Li Baoliang, shared the heartbreaking details on Weibo, revealing that emergency medical staff refused treatment based on the negative Covid test result. After a delayed ambulance arrival, it took over two hours to transport the baby to a hospital 60 miles away, where she later passed away.
This incident has fueled widespread criticism of China’s ongoing strict quarantine measures, which have led to protests and public outcry as millions are confined to their homes.
