Tim Davie, the BBC Director General, has revealed that the next series of Strictly Come Dancing will go ahead this autumn, but with a renewed focus on fun and entertainment rather than competition. The show has recently faced accusations of inappropriate behavior among some professional dancers, which led to the departure of Graziano Di Prima and Giovanni Pernice.

Davie expressed concerns that the competitive nature of the show had overshadowed its original aim of providing enjoyable Saturday night entertainment.
