Biden Condemns Putin’s Nuclear Threats as Zelenskiy Vows to Press On

UN addresses highlight global outrage over Russia’s escalation and Ukraine’s determination to reclaim its territory

U.S. President Joe Biden denounced Vladimir Putin’s nuclear threats as “reckless” during his address to the United Nations General Assembly, while reaffirming unwavering support for Ukraine amidst Russia’s military escalation and plans to annex more Ukrainian regions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, speaking via a pre-recorded message, dismissed Putin’s actions, pledging that Ukraine’s forces would maintain their counter-offensive efforts. “We can return the Ukrainian flag to our entire territory. We can do it with the force of arms, but we need time,” Zelenskiy asserted, emphasizing his country’s resolve not to allow Russia to consolidate its positions.

Zelenskiy’s address, which Russia attempted unsuccessfully to block, was backed overwhelmingly by UN member states. As global leaders voice their condemnation of Russia’s actions, the international community remains united in opposing the ongoing aggression and supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty.
