Premium Hatchbacks Get Performance Upgrades and New Engine Options
BMW has expanded its 1 Series and 5 Series models, introducing new variants to enhance performance and appeal. The 1 Series lineup now includes a 116 variant powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine producing 121bhp and 230Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed double-clutch Steptronic transmission. This version accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 9.8 seconds, and it will likely be available in Singapore. The M135 xDrive variant has also been upgraded with an M Technology Package, featuring stiffened shock absorbers and aluminium anti-roll bars to improve steering precision. Additionally, BMW is introducing the 123 xDrive, featuring a four-cylinder engine with 48V mild hybrid technology, delivering 215bhp and a 0-100km/h time of 6.3 seconds.
