British Tourist Killed by Helicopter Blade in Greece

21-year-old dies after being struck by rotor blade while disembarking a chartered helicopter in Athens.

A 21-year-old British tourist, Jack Fenton, tragically lost his life after being struck by the spinning rotor of a helicopter at a helipad in Athens. The incident occurred shortly after Fenton and others disembarked from the helicopter, which had chartered them from Mykonos.

Greek authorities have launched an inquiry into the death, focusing on possible negligence after witness testimony raised concerns about why the helicopter blades were still in motion when passengers were allowed to disembark. Fenton was killed instantly by the helicopter’s rear rotor. He had been vacationing with his family on Mykonos and was scheduled to fly back to the UK on a private jet.

Three individuals, including the helicopter’s pilot and two ground engineers, were initially detained but were released pending the investigation. Although some reports suggested Fenton was attempting to take a selfie when the accident occurred, a friend traveling with him stated that he was not using his phone at the time.
