Changi Airport’s Terminal 2 Earns Recognition as One of the World’s Most Beautiful Airports

Newly Redesigned Terminal 2 Joins Prestigious Prix Versailles List for 2024

Singapore’s Changi Airport has once again received international acclaim, this time with Terminal 2 being named one of the World’s Most Beautiful Airports for 2024 by the Prix Versailles. This prestigious recognition highlights Changi’s continuous efforts in redefining airport design, with Terminal 2’s recent renovation standing out for its nature-themed approach.

Reopened in November 2023 after a major redesign that began in 2021, Terminal 2’s centerpiece is The Wonderfall, an awe-inspiring natural-inspired spectacle that has become a key attraction. The redesign is part of a broader effort to enhance the airport’s cultural and aesthetic appeal.

Since 2015, the Prix Versailles awards have celebrated outstanding architectural achievements globally. Past winners in the airport category include Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Chile and Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport in China. Changi’s Terminal 2 now joins a distinguished group of airports, which includes Boston Logan International and Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport.

These six winners will compete for the prestigious World Titles in December 2024 at the UNESCO Headquarters, where the final winners will be revealed. The design behind Terminal 2’s transformation was created by France’s BOIFFILS Architectures, with the aim of enhancing travelers’ cultural experiences as they pass through.

As part of its ongoing recognition, Changi Airport was also named the Best Airport in the World in the 2024 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards, a testament to the airport’s continued excellence and innovation in airport design.
