Customer Faces Multiple Charges but Funds Never Reflect on EzLink Card After Using SimplyGo App

Frustrated Singaporean shares his experience of being charged four times on SimplyGo without any funds added to his card.

A Singaporean man recently shared a troubling experience on social media involving the SimplyGo app, which charged him four times for a single top-up attempt, but none of the payments reflected on his EzLink card.

According to the man’s post, he tried to top up his EzLink card via the SimplyGo app but faced repeated errors when attempting the transaction. “I selected the $20 option twice, but each time, the app showed an error,” he explained. “I assumed it didn’t work and stopped trying.” However, upon checking his bank account later that evening, he noticed a troubling issue. “I saw -20 x 3 on my account,” he noted, referring to the duplicate charges of $20, though his EzLink balance remained unchanged.

Typically, the app requires verification through iBanking, scanning the EzLink card, and sending an SMS and email confirmation for each transaction, but the user received none of these notifications. After waiting several days, he attempted to top up again using PayLah, but still no funds appeared on his card. “Where did my $70 go?” he asked in frustration.

The man reached out to both SimplyGo and DBS to resolve the issue but has yet to receive any assistance. “I’m already struggling with school expenses, and this has caused me unnecessary stress,” he shared, adding that he now plans to avoid using his EzLink card altogether.

This complaint sparked conversations online, with others sharing similar experiences of being overcharged or facing difficulties in resolving payment issues. One user shared how their expired auto top-up caused failed transactions, resulting in daily charges to their credit card until they contacted their bank.

Though some users have successfully received refunds, others reported waiting months for a resolution, highlighting the frustrations many face when dealing with digital payment systems.

In response to this issue, several users offered advice, warning others to be vigilant when using apps like SimplyGo. “Don’t let them ‘SimplyTakeFromYou,’” one commenter urged, emphasizing the importance of staying informed and proactive about digital transactions.
