No injuries reported in Crawford Lane fire; SCDF swiftly contains blaze caused by electric bicycle charging.

A fire that broke out in an HDB flat on Crawford Lane in the Kallang area on Monday night (Dec 11) is suspected to have been caused by an electric bicycle that was left charging. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded promptly to the fire, which occurred around 11:50 pm at Block 463, Crawford Lane. SCDF personnel used a water cannon to quickly put out the flames.

The fire caused significant damage to the living room of the affected unit, as seen in photographs shared by the SCDF. Initial investigations suggest that the electric bicycle, which was being charged in the living room, may have ignited the fire.

Thankfully, there were no injuries, as the unit was empty at the time of the incident. Additionally, 35 residents from the building had evacuated safely before the SCDF’s arrival, ensuring the safety of the community.
