Hyundai Launches Second Locally Assembled Ioniq EV with New Features and Expanded Charging Options

Ioniq 6 EVs Produced in Singapore, Debut New App-Based Connectivity and Enhanced Charging Solutions

Hyundai has launched its second made-in-Singapore electric vehicle (EV), the locally assembled Ioniq 6 sedan, marking another milestone in the company’s commitment to Singapore’s EV market. The new Ioniq 6 comes in four models, with two featuring 55 kWh batteries requiring a Category A Certificate of Entitlement (COE) and two with 77 kWh batteries needing a Category B COE. Prices range from S$192,150 to S$244,850, including COE.

Production began in June 2024 at the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS) in Bulim Avenue, the first EV factory in the country. This follows the successful assembly of the Ioniq 5 in early 2023 at the same facility. Hyundai also produces an autonomous version of the Ioniq 5 for robotaxi company Motional.

A key feature of the locally assembled Ioniq 6 is Hyundai’s new Bluelink Internet-connected service, which allows users to update the car’s software over the Internet and operate certain functions using voice commands. Bluelink will also be available for future Ioniq 5 models produced in Singapore.

In addition to the new connectivity features, Hyundai is expanding its charging options for local EV owners. The company has partnered with SP Mobility to provide destination charging services, alongside current provider Charge+. Hyundai’s flexible charging credit scheme with OCBC has been expanded, offering owners more options to use credits at 17 charge-point operators in Singapore. Additionally, Power Up Tech will continue to offer mobile EV charging services, now including emergency charging and other assistance like 12-volt battery replacement and towing.
