IDF Targets Hostile Aircraft Amid Ongoing Middle East Conflict

Escalating Attacks and Casualties in Israel-Lebanon Conflict

On October 3, 2024, Israeli air defenses intercepted a “hostile aircraft” approaching from the east, as tensions between Israel and Hezbollah intensified. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported ongoing airstrikes across Lebanon, with significant casualties in Beirut and surrounding regions. The violence has escalated sharply, with at least 37 people killed in Israeli strikes on Lebanon in the previous 24 hours, according to Lebanese health authorities.

Throughout the day, explosions rocked Beirut, especially in the southern suburbs, where multiple Israeli airstrikes were reported. The IDF also announced the killing of a senior Hamas leader in Tulkarm, West Bank, and Israeli forces continued to target Hezbollah positions across the region.

The conflict has led to widespread displacement, with the United Nations reporting that over 1.2 million Lebanese have been forced to flee their homes due to ongoing attacks. Additionally, there have been reports of Lebanese military retaliation against Israeli positions, marking an escalation in the conflict. Meanwhile, Israel has faced international scrutiny for its airstrikes, and several leaders, including from the G7, have expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in the region.
