IPCC Warns of “Now or Never” Opportunity to Prevent Climate Disaster

Urges urgent action to reduce emissions and avoid catastrophic global warming.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has issued a stark warning, declaring that the world has a “now or never” opportunity to prevent the worst effects of climate change. Scientists stress that global greenhouse gas emissions must peak by 2025 and be nearly halved within this decade to keep global warming below 1.5C. The IPCC highlights that immediate and drastic actions are necessary across all sectors, or temperatures will exceed 3C, leading to disastrous consequences. Despite the minimal economic cost of transitioning to a low-carbon economy, the report stresses that the world is failing to implement the required changes. This is potentially the final warning before irreversible climate breakdown becomes inevitable.
