Singapore’s Derek Wong Joins Forces with Iconic Players Like Taufik Hidayat and Tony Gunawan

The Foo Kok Keong International Cup, marking its 10th edition, will take place from September 27 to 29, 2024, at the newly revamped Singapore Badminton Stadium at KFF Badminton Arena. This exciting event will feature top badminton legends from Asia, including Olympic champions Taufik Hidayat (Indonesia), Tony Gunawan (Indonesia), and Boonsak Ponsana (Thailand), alongside Singapore’s very own Derek Wong.

The venue, which underwent a $5 million refurbishment and reopened on August 9, 2024, promises to deliver an enhanced experience for both attendees and online viewers. The state-of-the-art stadium includes advanced technology such as auto-tracking PTZ cameras, live streaming on YouTube, and two large LED screens to ensure every detail of the action is captured across the nine courts.

Eugene Ang, Managing Director of JK Technology, expressed excitement over the collaboration, emphasizing their commitment to providing a top-tier viewing experience for all fans, whether present at the event or watching remotely.

Taufik Hidayat’s remarkable journey includes his triumph at the 2004 Athens Olympics, where he defeated Boonsak Ponsana in the semifinals to claim the gold. On the other hand, Derek Wong, who represented Singapore at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, will also participate, making the competition even more thrilling.
