Liverpool Reach Semi-Finals Despite Benfica’s Resilient Fight

Jürgen Klopp’s team advances with a 6-4 aggregate victory after a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Liverpool secured a spot in their third Champions League semi-final in five years, despite Benfica pushing them to the brink in a tense second leg. The match ended 3-3, with the aggregate score reading 6-4 in Liverpool’s favor. Benfica fought hard, with Darwin Núñez scoring in the 82nd minute to keep hopes alive, but the Reds’ earlier goals from Ibrahima Konaté, Roberto Firmino (twice), and the continued strong play ensured they maintained their aggregate lead.

Benfica’s impressive effort, highlighted by Roman Yaremchuk’s goal in the 72nd minute, came too late to overturn the tie. Liverpool will now face Villarreal in the semi-finals, continuing their quest for the coveted quadruple.
