Customer complains of misleading pricing and excessive charges, following a refund dispute at K Salon.
A man in Singapore took to social media to warn others about a hair salon after his mother was charged what he deemed an excessive amount for hair dye services. The incident occurred at K Salon, located on Bangkit Road, where Mr. Justin Tan’s mother had visited for a hair treatment.
According to Mr. Tan’s post on the COMPLAINT SINGAPORE Facebook page on December 4, his mother was initially quoted S$125 for hair dyeing. However, the salon manager reportedly pushed her to purchase an additional package costing S$250, promising that the remaining balance could be used for future services like haircuts.
To Mr. Tan’s shock, when the service was completed, the bill came to an unexpected S$521. The salon staff explained that the additional charges were for three rounds of bleaching, each costing S$99. “Bleach 3 times?” Mr. Tan questioned in his post, expressing disbelief at the high cost.
After his mother paid the bill, she contacted her son, who immediately went to the salon to confront the staff. After some heated discussion, the salon agreed to refund S$100, but when Mr. Tan’s mother counted the money, she found that only S$90 had been returned.
This incident is particularly concerning as K Salon was previously warned by the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) for unfair pricing practices. Mr. Tan’s post has sparked further discussion about transparency and fairness in pricing at local businesses.
