Efforts to Locate Craig Clouatre End with Discovery in Absaroka Mountains, North of Yellowstone
Montana authorities have expressed gratitude to the search and rescue teams that located the body of a missing hiker believed to have been killed by a grizzly bear north of Yellowstone National Park. Park County Sheriff Brad Bichler praised the dedicated volunteers involved in the intense operation, which included thermal imaging flights, helicopter teams, and ground searches. The search focused on the Six Mile Creek area in the Absaroka Mountains, about 30 miles south of Livingston. The victim, identified as 40-year-old Craig Clouatre from Livingston, had been missing since earlier in the week. The cause of death is believed to be a grizzly bear, although no further details were provided. Clouatre’s family, including his father, who spoke to the Associated Press, is in mourning. Craig had relocated from Massachusetts to Montana over two decades ago, where he built his life with his wife, Jamie. Authorities continue to work on returning his body to the family.
