Neymar Supports Bolsonaro Ahead of Brazil’s Election

Football Star Backs Far-Right President Just Days Before the Vote

Brazilian football star Neymar has expressed his support for President Jair Bolsonaro just days before the country heads to the polls for the presidential election. The Paris Saint-Germain forward posted a video in which he was seen singing along to a Bolsonaro campaign jingle and making V signs to represent the president’s party number, 22.

This endorsement came as Bolsonaro, trailing in the polls, faces a tough re-election race against his leftist challenger Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Neymar’s show of support followed Bolsonaro’s visit to the Neymar Institute in Santos, where he had previously built his career. Though Neymar wasn’t physically present, he expressed his backing over the phone.

With the election just around the corner, if no candidate secures an outright majority, a second-round vote is scheduled for October 30.
