Actress dives into Choi Sun Hee’s inner struggles and her evolution in a suspenseful family mystery

Park Ju Hyun recently opened up about her portrayal of Choi Sun Hee in the highly anticipated KBS drama Perfect Family, set to premiere on August 14 at 9:50 pm KST. The drama, adapted from a popular webtoon, unravels the story of an outwardly flawless family whose bonds are tested when their daughter becomes entangled in a murder case.

Playing the role of Sun Hee, an academically gifted yet emotionally complex character, Park revealed her initial hesitation about stepping into a more passive role compared to her previous work. She described Sun Hee as a kind and upright individual whose personality is shaped by her environment and relationships.

Park emphasized her dedication to making Sun Hee relatable, exploring the character’s emotional struggles and protective barriers. While acknowledging that passive characters can frustrate audiences, she expressed her aim to convey Sun Hee’s depth and humanity.

Collaboration with the director played a key role in shaping her performance. Despite early creative differences, Park and the director found common ground in crafting a nuanced portrayal of Sun Hee. Reflecting on her co-stars Kim Byung Chul and Yoon Se Ah, who play her adoptive parents, Park praised their supportive and lively energy on set.

As Perfect Family approaches its premiere, Park shared her hopes that viewers will resonate with the drama’s compelling narrative and her character’s journey.
