Unpleasant Ride Experience Shared on Social Media, Prompting Other Complaints About Taxi Conditions
A taxi passenger in Singapore voiced her frustration on social media after what she described as a “disgusting” ride in a dirty taxi with an unpleasant odor. The incident occurred early on Tuesday morning (April 16) near Bugis Street, where the passenger, Fion Bee Yok, was picked up.
In her complaint, she wrote, “This is the first time I have seen such a dirty taxi. The smell is not to mention the old man’s sweat smell… so disgusting! So disgusting! 5:20 am in the morning, the location is Bugis Street, where CW picks up and drops off.”
Other online users responded, urging her to report the taxi’s condition to the Land Transport Authority (LTA). In response, the passenger confirmed that she had already contacted the taxi company directly via email.
This complaint is part of a growing trend of passengers airing grievances about their transportation experiences in Singapore. Recently, a rider shared a similar experience, describing how a taxi ride for which he paid S$44 made him feel nauseous due to erratic driving. The passenger complained about the driver’s habit of frequently braking and accelerating, which left him unable to rest during the journey.
In the online discussions that followed, other users discussed their own experiences with poor taxi conditions and driving habits, with some sharing tips on how to handle aggressive drivers, including warning them about feeling sick if the behavior continued.
This growing trend of online complaints reflects the frustrations many passengers feel about the state of some taxis and drivers in Singapore, highlighting issues ranging from cleanliness to driving habits that affect comfort and safety during rides.
