Russia’s strategic goals remain firm as peace discussions face setbacks and military actions intensify
In a striking statement, Russia’s former president declared that any peace agreement with Ukraine would be dictated by Moscow’s terms, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the conflict. His comments come amid tensions in the Russia-Ukraine war, as Russia accuses Ukraine of failing to honor a preliminary peace deal.
The Kremlin continues to assert its position on various fronts, including its promises on energy commitments. Meanwhile, discussions around grain exports, military support to Ukraine, and economic sanctions against Russia are ongoing. The US, for example, is preparing a new weapons package for Ukraine, while NATO members, including Sweden and Finland, receive support from the US Senate.
Despite these diplomatic and military efforts, Russia’s peace conditions remain firm, signaling a protracted conflict with no immediate resolution in sight.
