Pep Guardiola Reflects on Semi-Final Win: “The Team Is Exhausted, but the Pressure Is Real”

City boss praises Erling Haaland’s performance and the team’s resilience despite the physical toll.

Pep Guardiola praised his team’s resilience after securing a spot in the semi-finals for the third consecutive year. Reflecting on the challenging match, Guardiola acknowledged the difficulty of facing an “incredible team” and highlighted the tough first-half performance. “We struggled in the first half, especially on our left side, where Upamecano broke through and Coman caused us problems,” he admitted.

City had some luck on their side, with Bayern Munich missing a penalty before they themselves failed to convert one, but Guardiola was quick to emphasize the defensive improvements in the second half. “We defended really well, and once momentum shifted, we played much better.”

The City manager also took time to praise Erling Haaland’s clinical finishing, noting, “His finishing was really good. He’s so young, and the experience we have in this competition is invaluable. The players feel the pressure, but they also want to perform well.”

Guardiola expressed concern over the team’s physical state, saying, “The team is exhausted, and I don’t know how we are going to recover to play against Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-final. It’s demanding, and Saturday will be tough.”
