A Singaporean Diner Decries Low Food Quality and High Costs at Local Eatery
A recent post by a frustrated diner has sparked further discontent over small food portions and high prices at local eateries in Singapore. Santhi Shan, a Facebook user, shared her disappointing experience in the Complaint Singapore group on January 9, 2024. She recounted purchasing a chicken tom yam fried rice dish for $6.20, only to find it “very oily” with “so little rice” and nearly no chicken.
Expressing her dissatisfaction, Ms. Shan wrote, “I never complain about food before but today is the worst experience.” She emphasized the hard work people put in to earn money, appealing to food vendors to be more considerate in their pricing and portion sizes. “Please have some conscience. We pay money and buy food with our hard-earned money,” she said, adding that such practices would ultimately harm the reputation of businesses that engage in them.
To highlight her point, she posted photos of the meal, showing the disappointing lack of chicken and small portion size. Ms. Shan concluded that she would not be returning to the establishment, stating, “How will you people prosper if you cheat money by selling this kind of food?”
