Investigations Underway as Gastroenteritis Cases Emerge
Stamford Catering has been temporarily suspended following an outbreak of gastroenteritis that affected 51 people after consuming its food. The Ministry of Health (MOH) and Singapore Food Agency (SFA) are investigating the company for three incidents of gastroenteritis, causing symptoms like diarrhoea and vomiting, reported on October 12. The affected individuals sought outpatient treatment or self-medicated, with no hospitalizations.
As a result of the incident, SFA has halted the company’s operations until further notice. During the suspension, Stamford Catering is required to sanitize its premises, equipment, and utensils, and ensure that all food handlers, including the Food Hygiene Officer, undergo re-certification and testing for foodborne pathogens before resuming work. The SFA also emphasized the importance of good food and personal hygiene practices.
