Scheduled Software Upgrade Causes Service Disruption
StarHub users in Singapore experienced a significant mobile network outage on the morning of Tuesday, October 29, 2024, with over 2,000 reports of disruptions. The issues, primarily affecting mobile internet services, were first reported at 7:39 AM, when outage tracking site Downdetector received over 1,000 complaints, the majority relating to mobile internet access.
Additional reports followed at 7:45 AM on a separate Downdetector page, bringing the total number of complaints to 1,921 within minutes. Customers also faced mobile phone network and signal problems.
In response, a StarHub spokesperson confirmed that the disruption stemmed from a scheduled software upgrade conducted early in the morning. They assured that the technical team worked promptly to restore full service, and that all other StarHub services were unaffected.
The spokesperson also expressed appreciation for customers’ patience and offered apologies for the inconvenience.
This outage follows a similar incident in August, when StarHub users faced a several-hour disruption, with more than 7,500 reports made.
