A shocking incident at Somerset 313 has gone viral after a taxi driver mistakenly drove off with a toddler still inside the vehicle. The child’s relative, an elderly man, attempted to retrieve her, but both he and the child fell after being hit by the taxi’s rear door.
The video, which was shared on the SG Road Vigilante (SGRV) Facebook page on Sunday, December 17, shows the driver of a blue ComfortDelGro taxi leaving the drop-off point without ensuring all passengers had exited the vehicle. As the elderly man tried to pull the child from the back seat, the taxi’s rear door struck them, causing both to fall onto the ground.
The incident, which occurred around 11:47 AM, has garnered significant attention online, with over 125,000 views. The video caption highlights that the driver “did not even attempt to alight and apologize” or check on the victims. The shocking lack of consideration has sparked outrage among viewers.
ComfortDelGro responded to the incident, stating that they were investigating and had contacted the affected passengers to offer assistance. The company also reminded its drivers to be more mindful before moving off. The video, which begins with the cab pulling into the drop-off area, shows several passengers alighting. As the elderly man moves to assist the child, the driver unexpectedly starts moving the vehicle, causing the dangerous fall.
