Woman Seeks Help to Retrieve Lost iPhone Tracked to Johor Bahru After Mall Incident

A Plea for Compassion Following Phone Theft at Paya Lebar Quarter Restroom on New Year’s Day

A woman from Singapore has turned to social media in the hope of recovering her lost iPhone, which was traced to Johor Bahru after being stolen from a restroom at Paya Lebar Quarter on New Year’s Day. In an emotional plea shared on the Complaint Singapore Facebook group on January 2, Oriero Angelyn explained how her pink iPhone 16 Plus was left behind on a tissue holder in the women’s bathroom around 9 pm on January 1.

Realising her mistake shortly after, Oriero rushed back to the restroom, only to find that her phone had vanished. The mall was closing, and with the crowd hurriedly leaving, she couldn’t locate the device. She approached a cleaner to inquire if anyone had found it, but was told that no one had reported the phone. It wasn’t until later that evening, using her Apple Watch, Oriero discovered that her phone had been taken to Johor Bahru.

In her heartfelt post, Oriero addressed the person who took the phone, urging them to return it: “The New Year just began, I hope you’ll choose kindness. I worked hard to buy it, and I’m sure you can relate.” She attempted to call the phone, but it went unanswered, and once the phone reached Johor Bahru, it stopped ringing entirely.

Some people suggested that Oriero file a police report or approach the mall’s management, while others recommended that she travel to Johor Bahru to involve local authorities. However, Oriero shared that she was unable to make the trip as she had already returned to work.

She also informed The Independent Singapore that she had placed the phone in “Lost” mode, rendering it useless to the person who took it. Though she remains hopeful, Oriero expressed a sincere wish that the individual would find it in their heart to return the phone.
